When sketching is it possible to do an offset without copying the profile

Question

When sketching is it possible to do an offset without copying the profile

Answer

The Offset command in the Solid Edge 2D sketching environments is designed to copy rather than move geometry. It specifically allows you to select existing sketch geometry and create associative offset geometry complete with a dimension which controls the offset distance. If the original geometry used for the offset is not required to be part of the profile or sketch there are two possible solutions. Firstly you can simply delete the original geometry. This will also remove the parametric offset relationship as well as the dimension. Alternatively if the parametruc relationship to the original geometry is still required you can convert the original geometry to construction.
